Jesus proves He is the Son of God

Jesus suffers and dies for our sins
-Jesus was 30 when He began His ministry
-Jesus was 33 when He was crucified

-Judas agreed to the chief priests to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver (Satan entered Judas)
-Jesus sent 2 disciples to bring Him a donkey to ride into Jerusalem
-When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people put their cloaks on the road and shouted Hallelujah
-Jesus celebrated Passover with His disciples on the night He was betrayed by Judas
-Judas' signal to who was Jesus was a kiss
-Passover = the night the Israelites hurriedly left Egypt after 400 years of slavery.
-On that night, God commanded the Israelite families to sacrifice a lamb and brush some of its blood on the door frames of their houses. The blood was a sign to the angel of death to "pass over" all Israelite houses and slay the firstborn children of the Egyptians.
-God also commanded the Israelites to bake their bread without leaven. (Bread dough made with yeast or leaven takes a long time to rise before it can be baked.) They were to bake and eat the unleavened bread before they fled Egypt. This is now a tradition for Jewish people on Passover.
-After questioning Jesus, the chief priests and other Jewish leaders turned Him over to Pilate for questioning
-Sanhedrin - high court of Jewish officials
-Even though Pilate (Roman governor) found Jesus innocent, the crowd wanted Jesus to be crucified so Pilate released the murderer Barabbas and handed Jesus over to the Roman guards to be crucified
-The crowd had no answer to Jesus' crime; they only shouted "crucify him!"
-Jesus was crucified between two robbers at 9:00 in the morning
-the Jews mocked Jesus and put a sign above His head that said "THE KING OF THE JEWS"
-The Jewish leaders and passerbyers insulted Jesus and mocked Him while He hung on the cross
-Before Jesus died at 3:00 in the afternoon, He cried out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
-Jesus died at 3:00 in the afternoon, and the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom (also, the earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the hold city and appeared to many people.
-Joseph of Arimathea buried Jesus in a tomb cut out of rock, after getting permission from Pilate.
-"Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body."

-for 40 days Jesus remained on the earth, appearing to more than 500 people
-Just before He ascended back to heaven, Jesus gave His disciples the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20 - "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...")
